Whispers in the loggia

Actually, this phase belongs of a Catholic weblog, but what the hell? The name sounds nice. A loggia is an Italian phrase referring to a gallery or corridor at ground level, or sometimes higher, on the facade of a building. It's not quite the same as a balcony, but then again, we in the United States have few truly remarkable loggias. Most of the European structures that have great loggias date back centuries. Americans were building log cabins at the time. Current architecture involves affixing, almost as an afterthought, a small open outdoor cubicle to the side of a blank exterior wall to give the inhabitants the delicious belief that the great outdoors is only one step away. Well, at least it is a place to enjoy outdoor nudity in the city. Enjoy.
